British heavyweight Daniel Dubois successfully defended his WBO world heavyweight title with a second-round stoppage of Fabio Wardley at London's O2 Arena on Saturday, October 17.
Dubois took control almost immediately, knocking Wardley down just 17 seconds into the opening round with a powerful right hand.
Although Wardley recovered and continued fighting, he struggled to withstand the champion's relentless attacks.
Dubois maintained the pressure in the second round, landing several heavy punches before Wardley's trainer, Ben Davison, threw in the towel.
Referee Steve Gray stopped the contest at two minutes and 21 seconds of the second round.
The victory marked Dubois's second triumph over Wardley in five months, following their dramatic first encounter in May, when Dubois recovered from two knockdowns to win in the 11th round.
Speaking after the fight, Dubois expressed satisfaction with his performance and made clear his intention to pursue further major heavyweight contests.
IBF heavyweight champion Filip Hrgovic, who watched from ringside, subsequently challenged Dubois to a title unification fight.
Dubois welcomed the possibility of another meeting with Hrgovic, whom he previously defeated in June 2024.
Wardley acknowledged the defeat and indicated his determination to return to the ring.
